Capital ships are used very frequently in Minmatar Fleet Alliance, and we are one of the few alliance that isn't afraid of losing capital ships. We will use capital ships in all posisble situations, even when we have limited intel. Capital ships are just like every other ship in the game, don't undock unless you can afford you lose it.
This document serves as guidance for capital ships and the current capital ship meta in EVE Online.
This capital ship is used most often in Minmatar Fleet Alliance, primarily because it allows us to fight heavily outnumbered in situations where we shouldn't be able to. Furthermore, it's the most fun and mechanic intensive capital ship to fly.
All force auxiliary carriers are viable,
In most situations, Lif and Ninazu are the first capitals that go in. They start an escalation chain. We highly recommend the Ninazu or Lif for your first FAX, transitioning into owning both an Apostle and Minokawa.
Dreadnoughts are typically used for escalation chains caused by force auxilary carriers or HAW dreadnoughts. Dreadnoughts are primarily deployed by alts, because they must be supported by a subcapital fleet.
Why does everyone fly armor dreadnoughts, Mr.ThatCares?
Energy neutralizers. It's as a simple as that. If you've watched us chew threw enemies with shield capitals, you'll notice that we neut them before we shoot them. By the time we shoot them, their shield hardeners are no longer active, and we cut through them like butter.Typically, shield hulls gain more DPS, and that's the tradeoff. However, with capitals, that's not the case, and shield dreadnoughts in many cases actually do less damage than their armor counterparts.
You can fit a dreadnought two ways,
The dreadnought meta is fairly solved, with 5 hulls leading the pack,
Other dreadnoughts have specialty use cases,
Like most things, 1 dreadnought is better than 0 dreadnought. Use what you can fly, specialize later.
Carriers are currently popular in the meta for moving medium scale fleets around through the use of conduits. In terms of combat, they have very little use.
Why does everyone fly armor carriers, Mr.ThatCares?
This one is a bit more complicated, because shield carriers actually do more damage than armor carriers, and make the tradeoff on fighter speed and application. Ultimately, the reasoning is the same- energy neutralizers, but this race is a lot closer than dreadnought balance.
Main characters are recommended to train carriers for the ability to "suitcase" doctrine ships for various deployments. Upon being able to field 50 carriers instead of subcapitals, we may deploy a skynet fighter fleet on grid.
However, our carrier doctrine will be armor,
The archon is recommended for pilots to train and purchase.
